Country superstar Dwight Yoakam rocked his guitars, cadillacs and hillbilly music March 5 at The Florida Theatre. The crowd went wild as the rhinestoned cowboy shimmied in his tight jeans across the stage during each song.

The set included several tracks from his latest album, “3 Pears,” a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” and hits from his nearly three-decade career, including “Honky Tonk Man,” “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere” and “Little Ways.”

Yoakam’s brand of honky tonk-meets-rock and pop brought new and faithful fans out for the show. Mother and daughter Annette and Missi Jones said they don’t go to many concerts together, but seeing Yoakam was a dream come true.

For Tom and Jan Mann of Minnesota, it was the third of four Yoakam concerts they planned to see on the current tour.

“She’s a roadie,” said Tom Mann of his wife.

The country star’s Americana set kept generations dancing together in their seats for hours.
