Toast to the Troops
Jack Daniels celebrated its 19th Toast to the Troops event with the help of famous country singer, Craig Morgan
The Jack Daniel Distillery hosted its 19th Toast the Troops Care Package Packing Party July 11 on Hogan Street with the help of the USO, military spouses, Jack Daniels' employees and volunteers. The day started at 11 a.m. with Jacksonville natives having an opportunity to stuff care packages and continued until 6 p.m. with the USO, military spouses and Jack Daniels' employees stuffing the majority of the packages form 2-6 p.m.
More than 7,500 care packages were stuffed and sent to benefit men and women in the military around the world. Each care package includes a personal message of support, a "toast card," as well as personal care items, international calling cards, disposable cameras, playing cards and other frequently requested items.
A special guest came to help with the care packages and tip his hat to the troops. Craig Morgan, country musician and 10-year Army veteran, held a free concert at the Landing Courtyard to show his support for the troops and for the cause. The concert began at 7 p.m. and drew a large crowd ready to rock out to popular Morgan songs including "Bonfire," "This Ole Boy," "More Trucks Than Cars," "International Harvester" and "Redneck Yacht Club."
